DEN @ LAC – WEEK 5

The story and the stats don’t line up in this one.

The story goes like this. Vic Fangio is a defensive mastermind and is coming into a defense with Von Miller, Chris Harris Jr, and Derek Wolfe, etc etc and he’s going to figure out the scheme that makes this the 85’ Bears mixed with the Steel Curtain of the 70’s.

The story in Cali is that Bosa and Ingram are going to leaving dents of QBs on the turf with how much pressure they’ve got.

Two DEFENSIVE BEASTS with aging Quarterbacks, pound the under.

NOPE! Doggy don’t think so!

These stories are great. Almost as great as The John Wick series. But they’re FAKE! All these signs that say take the UNDER means take the OVER. And Pound It!

Both of these teams sport middle of the pack defenses. 12 and 13 respectively both at 6.1 yards per play. The Chargers have done a better job of keeping points off the board, just breaking in the top-ten at #10, but the Broncos have allowed 93 points this year and are below average.

I think this one will be close at halftime and second half Rivers shows up.

I love the OVER here. I’ve got no cell service. Who can put this bet in for me?

The plan is simple. Big Tasty Overs that can’t miss. Don’t over think it.

Cats have 9 lives. This Dog has 5 picks. Now GO POUND THESE PICKS! You’ll be glad you did.

JAX @ DEN – Week 4

This one seems laughable. Jalen Ramsey went from the flu to a back strain to paternity leave in 3 days, and is not playing this weekend.

Might not matter as Flacco is toast, and Denver is only averaging 15 points per game. The fact that the Jags are letting Ramsey seek this trade might say enough about their faith in the defense to compete without him.

The Broncos seem to have finally realized Philip Lindsay is good considering they fed him the rock 21 times last week and he rewarded that gameplanb with 2 tuts. Lindsay was The Broncos only bright spot against the Pack.

I ride the gravy train and the MInshew train. 👨🏻🚂. Gardner met his hero this week when Uncle Rico made a stop in Jacksonville for a little inspiration.

The Minshew hype is real and he has been doing alot of media this week. Maybe ripe for a reality check? I’m not ready to go there.

In what should be a tight game, The Dog still says take The Jags. What has Denver shown us to be a favorite against anyone this year? Nothin’!

Dog Pound 2019 Record: 4-1 ✅

Thanks for coming over to the Pound. We know you’re busy in a time pinch.  So is The Dog. Gotta get on the road and head over to @BuffaloTrace and gonna have himself a DAY! Hoping that you all have yourself a DAY too this fine Saturday.

Dirty Dog & the Boys had a long drive over to Lexington yesterday.  That means you can be assured that we put the time in to get these picks right.  That’s why these 5 are in the Pound this week.

Thanks for stopping by The Pound and we hope you adopt these picks. Now GO POUND THESE PICKS! You’ll be glad you did.

DEN @ GB – Week 3

GB’s new offense with Matt Lafleur hasn’t clicked yet with only 31 points over 2 games.

Last week against the Vikings Aaron Rodgers and the pack got off to a very hot start but cooled off and never seemed to pull it back together. The second half looked like the McCarthty-coached sideline with Rodgers visibly upset.

This Dog doesn’t feel ready to say the QB and coaching situation has been fixed up north. We all know what happens when Aaron doesn’t like you, just ask his family.

The Packers’ defense has done a 180. Three woofs. Doggy Likey.

Denver has only given up 4 tuts in 2 games, and new head coach Vic fangio is one of the best defensive minds in the game. but Denver keeps it close enough to cover.

Joe Flacco clearly does not have a ton left in the tank, but last week the Broncos and Bears needed every second of the game to determine the winner. Both had staunch defenses. Using that game as some evidence, this Dog is convinced that this is going to feel just like the Packers and Bears season opener.

This line and total feels perfectly set, but The Dog feel like it’s going to be low scoring and close. GB win with a Denver cover. This Dog likes this dog, but just barely.

CHI @ DEN – Week 2

Vic Fangio taking over the helm in Denver and Dalton Risner DEN Right Guard was the 5th best rookie in Week 1 according to PFF.  You’re probably wondering why I bring this up and if it matters. The Dog says it does. WOOF WOOF

Lot of questions come from this.

Does Fangio have a plan for Will Risner and the rest of the Denver line to keep the Bears pass rush at bay?

Probably. But a plan is a plan and to The Dog that means nothing. Go ahead and scheme all you want Vic.

Will Risner and the rest of the Denver line be able to keep the Bears pass rush at bay?

Probably Not.

Does it even matter with Flacco back there?

Absolutely Not.

Coming off of a loss to Oakland, Denver comes home with little hope of a W here.  They will go running back by committee with Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay against a Bears defense that should keep the two of them bottled up to paltry numbers.  Courtland Sutton and Emmanuel Sanders ought to get most of the downfield targets for the Broncos in this one, but ought to be blanketed by the talented Bears secondary. The aforementioned Bears pass rush coupled with Flacco growing roots in the pocket won’t give either one enough time to free themselves up.

Bears cover at -3.

The Dog says lay off the O/U on this one.  Too many questions about their ability to rack up a ton of points as the Bears look to improve offensively after an ineffective Week 1.
